Sports Injuries

Our physiotherapists have a great deal of expertise in the treatment of sports injuries. We have a long association with various sports teams and are very experienced in treating individual sports people.

It is important to have your injury diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. A provisional diagnosis and early management will see a more rapid return to the sports field. We will guide you through your return to sport with the appropriate treatment and a graduated exercise program. We all have a special interest in targeting the root of the problem and in doing so help prevent a recurrence.

We can refer you for an ultra-sound scan or an x-ray as necessary.

Sports injuries are still covered by ACC. You may register for ACC at our clinic and we will manage the claim for you. If you require further intervention we will refer you to your doctor or a doctor who specialises in sports medicine.

Work-Related Injuries

Injuries which occur at work are covered by ACC or your accredited employer/insurer. ACC can be done at our clinic and we will manage the claim for you.

Treatment will depend on your symptoms and may include soft tissue massage, nerve stretches, muscle balance training, strengthening, acupuncture, postural advice and advice on performing activities in the workplace. We can also refer you for a workplace assessment.

If left untreated, secondary problems often occur, and re-injury is more common.

We also have considerable experience in the treatment and management of gradual process injuries. These must be lodged with your doctor first. Symptoms of gradual process (RSI/OOS) may include pain which moves around, tingling, numbness and weakness in the arm or leg.

Recreational Injuries

These are still covered by ACC. They may include accidents or injuries which occur when you are out and about or just doing your favourite hobby. It is advisable to register the accident as soon as you are able. You can do this at our clinic. Just ring to make an appointment and ACC can be applied for at the time of your first visit.

Injuries usually involve pain, swelling and some movement restriction. It is essential to have these symptoms treated as soon as possible. With our various modalities of treatment we can help reduce the swelling which ensures the injured part can heal more effectively, and to also prevent the possibility of problems developing as a result of the injury.
